Description: Experienced Press Brake Operator – Amada Press Brake
Responsibilities include setting up the machine, programming computer numerical control (CNC) units, inspecting materials, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring the final products meet quality standards. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of mathematics and materials science in manufacturing industries like automotive and aerospace.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Setup: Prepare the press brake by selecting and installing the correct tooling (dies) and setting the appropriate bending pressure (tonnage) for the specific job.
Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings to understand the required part and the fabrication process.
Programming: Program the press brake’s CNC unit to control the bending and forming operations.
Material Handling: Place and align raw materials onto the machine for accurate bending.
Operation: Operate the press brake to accurately bend, shape, or cut metal components according to the plan.
Quality Control: Inspect finished parts for accuracy, measure them to ensure they meet specifications, and make any necessary adjustments.
Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and checks on the machinery to ensure optimal performance and prevent malfunctions.
Safety: Adhere to strict safety protocols in a manufacturing environment, often involving standing for long periods and handling heavy materials.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating press brake machines, programming CNC units, and changing tooling.
Precision and Detail: A keen eye for detail and the ability to perform precise work.
Mathematical Skills: Strong understanding of mathematics to calculate bending pressure and tool positions.
Materials Knowledge: Familiarity with different types of metals and how they react to the bending process.
Physical Aptitude: Good hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and the ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy materials.
Education: Typically requires a high school diploma or GED and vocational training or an apprenticeship in metalworking.
